Bus Transportation

Transportation Overview

Free bus transportation services are provided by your child’s School District of Residence based on the address on file with our school that matches your Proof of Residency documentation (provided each year during re-enrollment). Per district policy, eligibility for transportation services may be limited to a specific radius surrounding the location of the school.

Scroll down to read specific information for your District of Residence. If your District of Residence is different than what is listed below, please contact the ACCEL Schools Transportation Department to inquire if your student is eligible to receive another form of transportation service:

Columbus City Schools (CCS) District

If your child resides within the Columbus City Schools (CCS) district, transportation eligibility is based on the distance from your child’s home residence to the school.

  • K-8 Grade students must live 2 or more miles from campus to receive some form of transportation service.
  • Students with a home residence calculated by Columbus City Schools as 30+ minutes from campus are ineligible for yellow bus service and payment options (such as RTA).
  • Only NEW students or students changing buildings need to apply for busing.
  • All students moving to the Annex from Main Campus must reapply for transportation.
  • Annex students are routed according to high school guidelines. Due to the different routing criteria for high school, Annex students may not be routed with siblings. If you prefer to have your students to ride together, you may submit a change request once routes are established.
  • Charter/Non-public school students who reside within the boundaries of the Columbus City Schools District will request transportation to school by completing an online Transportation Request. Requests are made using our Infinite Campus Online Registration.

How to Apply for CCS Transportation Services:

  • Visit the Charter and Non-Public Requests page
  • Watch the short instructional video which explains the enrollment process.
  • Click the link to begin your Transportation Request via Infinite Campus.

Westerville City School District

If your child resides within the Westerville City School District (WCSD), transportation eligibility is based on the distance from your child’s home residence to the school.

  • K-8 Grade students must live 2 or more miles from campus to receive some form of transportation service.
  • K-8 Grade students with a home residence calculated by Westerville City School District as 30+ minutes from campus are ineligible for yellow bus service and payment options (such as RTA).

How to Apply for WCSD Transportation Services:

  • All families must apply each year.
  • Visit the Westerville City Schools’ Enrollment & Family Resource Center (EC), which is located inside the OhioHealth Medical Building at 300 Polaris Parkway in Westerville. You will need to bring a photo ID and two proof of residency documents: a current lease or mortgage statement AND a utility bill that is no more than 30 days old.
  • At the Enrollment & Family Resource Center, you will receive your transportation verification form. You will need to review this form and note any updates or changes that need to be made.
  • Once you have reviewed the form and made all necessary changes, you will need to sign the form. You will also be asked to indicate whether you are requesting AM busing, PM busing, or both.
  • Once your paperwork is completed and signed, hand it off to the Enrollment & Family Resource Center staff member, along with your ID and proof of residency documents.
  • NOTE FOR NEW FAMILIES: Please call for an appointment to arrange transportation as early in the summer as possible. Summer is a peak time for the office to process applications, and WCSD will not route any student without this appointment. All of your paperwork will be completed at this appointment.
  • The district will verify residency, route students, and provide routing information and start date within 2-5 business days.
