The number of school districts across the country where charter schools account for at least 10 percent of the enrollment rose to 110 in 2011-12, an increase of about 15 percent, according to the seventh annual edition of A Growing Movement: America’s Largest Charter School Communities.
The report from the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools also states seven districts enroll at least 30 percent of their students in charter schools and 25 school districts have more than 20 percent charter school enrollment. Total charter school enrollment across the country is more than 2 million, about 5 percent of all public school enrollment, according to the report.
