Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Letter
To further insure the safety and security of your child’s learning environment, the staff of Cornerstone Academy has undergone training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. The skills explored during this training specialize in the use of positive communication and empathic listening. These skills will be incorporated into the daily practices of all staff to lower office referral rates and build upon the already positive environment of Cornerstone Academy.
A smaller team of staff members have been trained to respond to physical crisis situations. This select group has been trained to use different dynamics of control to restrain students that prove to be a danger to themselves or others. Thorough documentation will be kept of all physically aggressive acts of students and the interventions used by staff members to resolve the matter. All documentation will be shared with the parents of students who are involved in these situations.
If you have questions regarding the techniques used or documentation kept for these incidents, we encourage you to contact the school office or please visit www.crisisprevention.com.
